Can companies limit notary public hours for the general public?

Yes. A company may limit the time frame that a notary public working for them is allowed to perform notarial services to the general public. To do this, the employer must ensure the time frame they set is within the normal business hours of the company and allows for enough time for these services to be rendered.

For example, if Company X is open from 8:00am through 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, then Company X could set notary public hours as 8:00am through 10:00am, Monday through Friday.

While the time and duration can change from what is listed above, Company X must ensure that they offer the notary public services with enough time to perform them.
