Study For and Take The Exam

Many people think that the notary public exam will be easy and they don’t have to study. They couldn’t be more wrong. In fact, most people taking the exam will fail on their first two tries and it is not uncommon for people to fail the exam more than twice. After a second failure you will have to wait ninety (90) days to reapply and retake the exam.

You will have 90 minutes to complete the notary public exam and you will need a score of 80% or higher to pass. The questions on the exam will consist of multiple choice, fill in the blank, and short answer. In addition, it will have sections to test your general knowledge, perform notarizations, and answer questions about the notarizations you performed. You will need to have a thorough understanding of the notarization process and the laws pertaining to notaries public if you wish to pass the exam.

It is extremely important to take your time and read each question CAREFULLY before answering. Some of the questions are designed to tripped up. If you do not know an answer, try moving on and coming back to it later. If you finish the exam with extra time, go back and double check your answers and make sure you didn’t miss anything.
